Acadia Christmas Card
Here is the final render and composite for this year's Christmas card. The sky is a photo, as well as the rock textures and fire, but everything else is modeled and rendered in C4D. We loved Acadia National forest and are planning to return next year. Let's hope there isn't another government shutdown!

Sunrise at Acadia National Forest
Here is a rendering of a 3D landscape created with Cinema 4D r14.
I built the trees and rocks in a "low poly" style, but then added detail and photographic textures to make things look more realistic. The sunrise is a photo, too, of course. The Airstream trailer was modeled to resemble our vintage 1963 GlobeTrotter. The background islands were rendered separate and comped in Photoshop.
This is the base image for our 2014 Christmas Card.

Turkey In the Straw
According to the writers at Wikipedia, "Turkey in the Straw" is a well-known American folk song dating from the early 19th century. I'm most familiar with it's use by Carl Stalling in many Warner Bros. cartoons.
It's also famously used in the Disney "talkie", Steamboat Willie! What a cool song.

Student ID photo 1984
Digging through the attic I found some old crap, such as this ID card from my time at Columbia College, Chicago. I was in the TV dept., but often felt that I should have chosen Film or Animation.
Things worked out, though, and it seems as if the invisible hand guiding my life knew the right choice for me. I've been in Post Production and now Motion Design for almost my entire career, and am one of the lucky guys who enjoys his work and looks forward to the next project.
Note: my hair is actually longer right now than in this photo. So much for 80's BIG HAIR.
