What the...?

I'm stumped... On the left is what I have in the viewport. On the right is what comes out of the render. Obviously something is not working correctly. I'm trying to use the Tracer and a Sweep NURBS to create a lovely sweeping series of arcs. In the meantime, here is today's "sketch"... Ho hum.
